Texas Chicken was founded in Texas, the United States of America (USA), in 1952. The brand is known as Church’s Chicken in the USA, while it is being marketed as Texas Chicken outside the USA. It currently operates more than 1,700 outlets in 26 countries.

Texas Chicken Breakfast Review (Causeway Point)
Texas Chicken at Causeway Point is located at level 1 of the shopping mall, right next to OCBC Bank. It has a seating capacity of around 20 to 30 people.
We arrived at the restaurant on a Saturday morning after making an order through its mobile app (there was a $5 discount offer for first order through the app, with no minimum purchase). We ordered a Sunny Pancake with Sausage Combo ($7.50) and a Deluxe Breakfast Platter Combo ($7.90).
As we approached the store, we were prevented from entering as a queue divider was placed in front of its entrance. As we stood at the entrance, the cashier who was behind the ordering counter shouted at us to get us to scan our SafeEntry QR code, and then requested us to lift the barrier to enter the store on our own. Subsequently, we informed her that we made an order through the app and were told to take our seats while waiting for our queue number to be called.
While waiting for our food, we noticed that the tables, floor and walls of this outlet were slightly worn out. It was somewhat a different experience from what we would expect of a fast food restaurant like McDonald’s, KFC, and Burger King (i.e. trendy, new and clean). After waiting for about 10 minutes, our queue number was called and we went to collect our food at the counter.
At first glance, the plating of food reminded us of the meals served by budget airlines. The food items were tucked into the small containers and appeared as if they have just been heated up. The breakfast didn’t look appealing and the small plastic containers made the quantity looked so little.
On the taste of the food, we found the hashbrown and scrambled eggs resembled those from KFC’s breakfast menu (hard oily hashbrown with dry scrambled egg), and the chicken bacon was similar to Long John Silver’s chicken bacon (which tasted very artificial). The bagel was too hard to be cut by the flimsy plastic fork and knife though its taste was fine. The saving grace were the pancakes the sausage patties, which were slightly above average but nothing spectacular.
In summary, we find the breakfast offered at Texas Chicken to be average at best, and for its quality and quantity, their items are overpriced. The service and environment was also subpar, acceptable for a coffeeshop but not expected for a fast food restaurant. We rate its food quality 3/5, value-for-money 3/5 (considering we had a $5 discount, otherwise we would have given it a 2.5/5) and service & environment 3/5.
