Year 2026 Tai Sui Guide Singapore (太岁2026)

When and where to pray to Tai Sui in Singapore - Return Tai Sui
2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse. For those who are born in the year of horse, rat, ox, rabbit and rooster, you are in conflict with Tai Sui in 2026. Find out how to pray and return Tai Sui in Singapore.

What are the Chinese zodiacs in conflict with Tai Sui in 2026 Year of Horse?

2026 marks the Year of the Fire Horse in the lunar calendar, also known as the Year of the Red Horse. In Chinese culture, fire represents vitality while the horse symbolises perseverance and industriousness.

Together, this makes 2026 a year regarded as favourable for career advancement and personal development. The next Year of the Fire Horse will only come around 60 years later.

Below are the zodiac signs that are in conflict with Tai Sui in 2026:

Horse

If you are born in the year of 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, or 2014 in the lunar calendar, your zodiac sign is horse.

As 2026 is the year of horse which is also your sign, you are in conflict with Tai Sui (值太岁). In addition, you will also encounter “crime tai sui” (刑太岁), which mostly affects wealth, especially business owners or those who are self-employed.

You may face challenges in various aspects of life, including your health, career, and relationships. In 2026, while some uncertainties may arise, with prudence, patience and a healthy lifestyle, the year can ultimately turn out to be a positive one.

Rat

If you are born in the year of 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008 or 2020 in the lunar calendar, your zodiac sign is rat.

Rat is directly opposite horse in the Chinese Zodiac Wheel. As 2026 is the year of the horse, people born in the year of the rat will also be in conflict in Tai Sui (冲太岁). You may experience significant shifts in health, career and interpersonal relationships compared to last year.

In 2026, be more risk-averse when it comes to financial decisions and exercise caution with all spending and investment decisions. You are advised to practice patience and be more tolerant of your family, friends, and colleagues, and treat every interaction with an open heart and an open mind.

Ox

If you are born in the year of 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, or 2021 in the lunar calendar, your zodiac sign is ox.

In 2026, people born in the year of the ox will encounter “harming tai sui” (害太岁), which is the worst among the types of tai sui. Luckily, some schools of thought consider the impact of this year’s Tai Sui on those born in the year of ox to be relatively mild. In fact, the influence is seen as so limited that some temples do not even list the Ox among the zodiac signs in conflict with Tai Sui.

Nonetheless, another school of thought suggests that you may experience below-average luck in your wealth and relationship throughout the year. By staying patient and relaxed and avoiding any disputes which may snowball into serious matters, the year has the potential to turn out well after all.

To settle your Tai Sui, you can visit temples that include ox in their Tai Sui list, such as Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum, Jia Zhui Kang Temple, etc.

Rabbit

If you are born in the year of 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, or 2023 in the lunar calendar, your zodiac sign is rabbit.

People born in the year of the rabbit will also encounter “breaking tai sui” (破太岁). Luckily, this type of tai sui is the least severe among the types of tai sui. Breaking tai sui usually affects interpersonal relationships, from couples, and family to workspace relationships.

In 2026, you may encounter challenges in managing your interpersonal relationships. As long as you practise mindful speech, be calm and avoid getting into any quarrels with others, 2026 may turn out to be a blessed year for you. Always stay prudent and have contingency plans in place, even when you are not in conflict with Tai Sui.

Rooster

If you are born in the year of 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, or 2017 in the lunar calendar, your zodiac sign is rooster.

The Rooster is considered one of the zodiac signs in conflict with Tai Sui due to its relationship with the Horse in the Earthly Branch (地支) system. In this system, Wu (午) represents the Horse and You (酉) represents the Rooster. Wu and You are in opposition, a relationship known in Chinese metaphysics as 午酉相破, which signifies a mutual clash or destructive interaction between the Horse and the Rooster.

In 2026, people born in the year of the rooster will encounter “breaking tai sui” (破太岁), which mainly affects interpersonal relationships. You may experience more frequent miscommunications, particularly in the workplace, and feel that your opinions are overlooked or delayed.

It is advisable to maintain a low profile, remain adaptable, and handle conflicts with caution. Pay attention to your health and well-being. To settle your Tai Sui, you can visit temples that include rooster in their Tai Sui list, such as Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple, Chong Ghee Temple, etc.

What should you do if you are born in the year of horse, rat, ox, rabbit, or rooster?

Many people may wonder if your zodiac sign is in conflict with tai sui, does this mean that you will have bad luck throughout the year? Should you avoid all major decisions from buying cars to buying properties?

No. When you have conflicts with tai sui, you are encouraged to work hard, be nice to others, stay positive, stay calm, take only calculated risks, and take extra precautions in major decisions. However, people not having conflicts with tai sui should also practise these principles in everyday life.

If your zodiac sign is in conflict with tai sui, you can head to any Taoist temple with Tai Sui God in Singapore to settle your tai sui (安太岁). Just tell them your zodiac sign and they will let you know what to do. Depending on the temple that you go to, you will usually be required to do the following:

  • Provide your Chinese name and date & time of birth
  • Buy a set of joss papers and joss sticks
  • Pray to the Tai Sui God

Where and when to return Tai Sui in Singapore 2025 (还太岁)?

To return Tai Sui, simply go to the same temple where you did your Tai Sui worshipping.

The procedure is the same as when you settled your Tai Sui. You will need to prepare your Chinese name, date and time of birth, buy a set of joss papers and joss sticks and pray to the Tai Sui God.

Each temple will have different dates for returning of Tai Sui. The typical dates to return Tai Sui are usually about 1 week to 1 month before the Winter Solstice festival or Dongzhi festival (冬至).

Dongzhi falls on 21 December 2025 (Sunday) in 2025.

Most of the temples have concluded their Return Tai Sui (谢太岁) ceremonies by the end of December 2025. However, a small number are still accepting worshippers. Here is a list of temples and shrines in Singapore where the Thank Tai Sui (谢太岁) 2025 ceremony remains open:

  • Singapore Yu Huang Gong 新加坡玉皇宫 (Temple of the Heavenly Jade Emperor)
    • Date: 10 December 2025 – 2 February 2026
    • Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
    • Address: 150 Telok Ayer Street, Singapore 068608 [Map]
    • Nearest MRT station: (DT18) Telok Ayer (210m or 3-minute walk)
    • Fee: S$10 per person
    • Note: Devotees are advised to bring flowers, fruits, and vegetarian pastries as offerings of gratitude and thanks.
  • Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple 新加坡韮菜芭城隍庙
    • Date: 1 December 2025 – 16 February 2026
    • Time: 6:00am – 8:30pm
    • Address: 15 Arumugam Road, Singapore 409960 [Map]
    • Nearest MRT station: (CC10|DT26) MacPherson (600m or 9-minute walk)

What should you do if you miss the period? Calm down and do not worry! You can go back to the same temple, buy a set of joss sticks, pray and express your gratitude to the Tai Sui God for the protection over the year.
