The Whale Tea Locations & Outlets 琉璃鲸
The Whale Tea 琉璃鲸 was founded in 2018 in Nanjing city, Jiangsu province, China. The Whale Tea is known for its brown sugar beverages and tea that is brewed using unique ingredients. Since its launch in China, it is a hit among youths and at one point had more than 500 outlets in the country.
The brand was launched in Singapore in 2019 and currently has 6 outlets spread across the island (as of June 2022):

The Whale Tea Review (City Square Mall)
The Whale Tea at City Squall Mall is located on Basement 2, right next to the escalator and facing Don Don Donki. Having noticed its 1-for-1 offer on The Entertainer app, we decided to visit their outlet after having our dinner in the vicinity. We arrived at the mall at around 8:30pm on a Friday evening and there were not many shoppers. There were also no customers at The Whale Tea.
As brown sugar beverages are their signatures, we wanted to try and give our take on them. Unfortunately, we were told that they ran out of Boba and brown sugar at the time of our visit. Since we are familiar with the usual bubble tea (milk tea), we decided to try something different that is unique to The Whale Tea.
We ordered a Volcanic Sapphire Whale ($4.50) and a Blue Whale Coconut Milk ($4.50). We replaced the milk in Blue Whale Milk with coconut milk. After placing our order, we stepped aside to wait for the beverages. Our order was ready in about 5 minutes. Upon receiving the drinks, we were amazed by its appearance. They are very instagrammble and we took a couple of photos before taking sips of the flamboyant beverages.
But alas, we were left disappointed after having a few sips of the beverages. There was only sweet taste without any flavours in the Volvanic Sapphire Whale drink, while its golden-colored collagen was totally tasteless. The Blue Whale Coconut Milk was better as we could still taste coconut milk in the drink. However, the blue-colored jelly that came with the drink was also tasteless.
In summary, we opined that while the drinks at The Whale Tea look pretty, they have a lot to improve on in the quality of their product. There is no point in drinking tasteless drinks as having a Teh-O or Kopi-O in the coffeeshops might be more worthy. We give the quality of their drinks a 2/5, their value-for-money a 3.5/5 (considering the 1-for-1 deal we received), and their service a 3/5.
