Prata Wala at Chinatown Point is located on Basement 1 of the shopping mall, and is connected to Exit G of Chinatown MRT station (NorthEast Line). The restaurant is along the right pathway towards NTUC Fairprice and has a seating capacity of around 20-30 people. We visited the store at around 9:30am on a weekday morning specially for the breakfast set that is only available at the Chinatown Point outlet. As we arrived at the restaurant, we noticed that it was almost full even though it was only 30 minutes after the opening hour. It appeared that everyone was there for the breakfast set.

Lucky for us, there was one last table available. As it is a self-serve restaurant and we head over to the counter to make our order. As there were only 2 staff available, the cashier was doubling up as the drink preparer. It took a few minutes before he attended to us. Like most of the customers at the restaurant at that time, we ordered two Set A ($4.90) where each set includes 1 plain prata, 1 egg prata and 1 Kopi O. We were then given a queue number with our beverages before we went to our table to wait for the prata.

After about 15 minutes wait, our number was called on screens placed across the restaurant. We head back to the cashier to collect our food. We felt the heat of the pratas as we place them on the table. The prata tasted great (hot and fresh from the pan) and are comparable to the famous roti prata we had at Jalan Kayu and Springleaf. The prata here are crispy and flaky on the outside and springy as you tear them apart. It also has a buttery taste that pairs very well with their moderately spicy curry. It was a cheap, simple, good local breakfast we had in CBD area in awhile. After we completed our meals, we returned the wares to their collection point just like in a hawker centre or a food court.

In summary, we rate their quality of food a 4/5, their service a 3.5/5 (though there wasn’t much service since it is self-served), their value-for-money a 4.5/5, and the environment a 4/5. We highly recommend their breakfast to those who are nearby.
