Pratunam Plus Review

Pratunum Plus by Soi Thai Soi Nice is located on level 4 of Bugis+. Arriving at 11:30am on a Sunday, there were not many people in the mall nor the restaurant. We were quickly ushered in by the friendly & courteous crew as soon as our reservation was verified (we made a booking through Eatigo with 50% off).

The restaurant has done away with a hardcopy menu and we were informed to place our order by scanning the QR code placed on each table with our mobile phones. Their web ordering system was fairly easy to use and we ordered a Runny Omelette Prawn Fried Rice ($8.90), Braised Pork Knuckle Rice ($7.90), 2 sticks of Moo Ping or BBQ Pork Skewers (2 x $2.50), and Fried Dumpling with Tom Yum Sauce ($6.90). Our order arrived within 10 minutes.

The quality and taste of the dishes we ordered were above average, compared to the other Thai restaurants we have been to. The ingredients used were fresh and the food was served hot. However, as frequent travellers to Thailand, we find that their flavours have been customized to local taste. The omelette fried rice tasted very similar to those we have at tze-char, instead of similar to the signature ketchup fried rice at the famous Baan Ying in downtown Bangkok. The braised pork knuckle was good and tasted close to the pork leg rice in Thailand. Moo ping or barbequed pork skewers were well grilled over open fire (you could also watch them being grilled through the glass panel at the entrance). We highly recommend their addictive Fried Dumpling with Tom Yum Sauce. It is not an authentic Thai dish, but a creative combination of hot & crispy fried Wanton covered with generous serving of laab-namtok ลาบ-น้ำตก (minced meat in Northeastern Thai seasoning).

Overall, we had a great lunch and would give this restaurant a 4 out of 5 for its food, service and environment. The only downside is its price if there is no discount.
