New Ubin Seafood Review (Zhongshan Park)

New Ubin Seafood Zhongshan Park is located on level 1 of Hotel Ramada by Wyndham. We visited the restaurant to utilize a $20 food voucher that came with our staycation at the hotel in 2020. 

We arrived at around 4:30pm and there were no guests in the restaurant. There was only one customer at the counter making her order. We browsed through their digital menu while waiting for our turn.

It was our turn in less than 5 minutes. We ordered a Seafood Chinchalok Fried Bee Hoon ($22.00) for take away. It was prepared to order and was ready in about 15 minutes. We took our order and returned to our room with other food that we bought in the vicinity.

At the time of writing this review, we noticed that this item is no longer on their menu and are unsure if it will be available again. Nevertheless, we will still offer our review of this dish below.

The fried bee hoon was smoky, savory, spicy with a tinge of sourness from the lime that we squeezed into the noodles. It came with fresh prawns, slices of fish cakes, and perfectly cooked bits of fried omelette. It is very unlike the usual zi char fried bee hoon or economic bee hoon. This unique dish at New Ubin Seafood deserves a try if you are around the area and it is available.

While the restaurant described it as being able to serve up to 4 people in its menu, we feel the quantity could only serve at most 2 people. As such, the price of $22.00++ is a little high for just a fried bee hoon that serves two.

Nonetheless, we enjoyed the dish and would rate its quality a 4/5. We give its value-for-money a 3/5 (based on its usual price), service a 3.5/5 and environment a 3.5/5.
