5 Star Corner Western Food Review (Hougang)
5 Star Corner Western Food has been operating for about 20 years and is a popular choice for Western food among residents in Hougang, Sengkang and Kovan. The stall is located at the entrance of the coffeeshop and is often seen with a snaking queue.
We have patronized them for years and knew very well what we want each time before we arrive. For this review, we arrived at around 11:30am on a weekday afternoon in October 2021 and there were only two customers in front of us. We ordered a chicken cutlet ($6.50) and a fish & chips ($6.50) for dine-in.
Their food is made upon order and we were served after waiting for about 10 minutes. As with our past experiences, the chicken cutlet and fish & chips arrived hot with the plates filled with French fries, baked beans, coleslaw and half a piece of buttered bread. The chicken was juicy, tender and well marinated, while the fish fillet was crispy and crunchy on the outside with a fresh and flaky interior. Both dishes were complemented with very generous amount of sides. We had a very full and happy meal.
In all, we rate the quality of their food a 4.5/5, value-for-money a 5/5 and service & environment a 3.5/5. We highly recommend this stall to anyone seeking local Western cuisine.
