What is a TraceTogether token?
TraceTogether is Singapore Government’s community-driven COVID-19 contact tracing programme.
The majority of Singapore residents uses the TraceTogether mobile app – Android and iOS – to register their entry to malls, shops, buildings and offices (known as SafeEntry) as well as to register contacts with nearby users via Bluetooth signals in the background.
For those who do not own or prefer not to use a mobile phone, they could still participate in the programme by using the physical TraceTogether Token designed and produced by the Government. One only needs the TraceTogether mobile app or token at any one time.
Singapore residents aged 7 years and above may collect a new TraceTogether token or replace faulty or out-of-battery ones (it has a battery life of 4 to 6 months) free of charge.
Note: Those who have lost their TraceTogether token can get a replacement token without charges for the first time. Subsequent replacements for lost device will be chargeable at S$9.

Vending Machines
You may also replace your TraceTogether Token at 132 vending machines (as of Sep 2021) placed in shopping malls and community centres. Most of the vending machines are placed in public areas and operate 24 hours (with exception of those placed inside buildings). You are required to bring your existing TraceTogether Token as well as your Singapore-issued ID card (NRIC/FIN card) to make the replacement. These are the steps to be performed at the machine:
- Scan the barcode of your Singapore-issued ID card or SingPass Digital IC
- Scan the QR code on your old TraceTogether Token
- Retrieve your new Token from the collection chute. Please wait for a ‘beep’ sound before collecting the token.
- Drop your old Token into the indicated slot. Do not return your old Token until you have collected the newly-dispensed one.
- Check your new Token at the SafeEntry Gateway fitted on the right side of the machine.
