Chinese New Year Events

Chingay 2023, the annual street parade that celebrates multiculturalism in Singapore, will take place on 3 & 4 February 2023 at the F1 Pit Building. Apart from showcasing the iconic Chingay floats and 17 mini-floats co-created in the community, the parade will also feature cultural performances by youths from various ethnic groups in a show of unity, heritage and diversity in the country.
Chinatown Chinese New Year Festival 2024 (2024年牛车水农历新年庆祝活动) is scheduled to take place from 11 January to 9 March 2024. Being the year of Dragon, this year's celebration features dragon themed lanterns, lightings and decorations along 4 major streets in the Chinatown district. Apart from taking photos with the dragon installations and festive lightings, visitors can look forward to participating in a host of festive activities from shopping for CNY merchandise, participating in art workshops, watching Chinese cultural performances, to attending the CNY countdown party during this period.
Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2024 (春满人间聚晚晴2024), the annual Chinese New Year celebratory event at Wan Qing Yuan 晚晴园, will be held from 16 January - 25 February 2024. Other than taking photos with life-sized dragon installation at the lawn, a host of ticketed and free activities from dragon & lion dance performances, interaction with God of Fortune, lantern-making workshop, dragon-beard candy making workshop to guided tours await all visitors this festive season.
Dahlia Dreams 2024 (滨海湾花园大丽花新春花卉2024), the annual floral exhibition held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year, is back at the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay from 19 January - 25 February 2024. Over a thousand dahlias of varied shapes, sizes and colours will be on display, together with a 7-metre tall and 15 metres long dragon that will be partly adorned with cut and preserved flowers.
CNY Family Fun 2024, a series of celebratory activities two weeks before the Chinese New Year, will be held for 3 days from 26 - 28 January 2024 at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC). Visitors can look forward to a cultural quest through both ticketed and free activities such as Chinese opera, traditional Chinese music, lion dance, live busking performances and more at this festival. Other than catching the cultural performances, guests can also shop for new year goodies at the accompanying CNY bazaar and take photos with a dragon-themed art installations at the centre.
River Hongbao 2024 (春到河畔 2024), the annual Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrations in the Marina Bay area, will be held from 8 - 17 February 2024 at Gardens by the Bay (GBTB). Apart from taking photos with the giant God of Fortune statue, 140-metre long dragon lantern and various lunar new year lanterns, lightings and decorations, visitors can look forward to nightly stage performances, a local food fair, an exhibition on the history CNY markets in Singapore, and amusement rides at this 10-day CNY carnival.
Marina Bay Dragon Drone Show 2024 (The Legend of the Dragon Gate) will take place for 4 nights on 10, 11, 15 & 16 February 2024 in the Marina Bay precinct to celebrate the Chinese New Year (CNY). A fleet of 1500 drones will present the story of the mythical Dragon King in a 10-minute performance, filling the sky with a symphony of lights and music.
RWS Spring in the SEA 2024, an annual Chinese New Year festive programme at the S.E.A Aquarium (Resort World Sentosa), is back this Dragon year from 26 January - 25 February 2024. Highlights of the event include the display of auspicious sea creatures like weedy sea dragon, meet-and-greets with adorable Manta mascots, and the much-anticipated underwater dragon dance!
RWS Spring in the SEA 2023, a Chinese New Year festive programme at the S.E.A Aquarium, Resort World Sentosa, will be held from 13 January - 5 February 2023. Highlights of the event include the display of auspicious sea creatures like foxface rabbitfish, storytelling by Ru Yi the mermaid, meeting and taking photos with adorable Manta mascots, and the much-awaited underwater dragon dance!
Prosperity Run 2024, a 5km fun run held on the 15th day of the Chinese New Year, is flagging off from Arena Park at Singapore Sports Hub on 24 February 2024. Novice and avid runners, young and old, are all welcome to participate in this race. Apart from the run, visitors and participants can look forward to taking photos with dragon-themed installations, watching dragon & lion dances and cultural performances, and immerse in a host of handicraft activities at this event.
