Chinatown Chinese New Year Festival 2023 (2023 年牛车水农历新年庆祝活动) will take place from 1 January to 19 February 2023. Themed “Leaping into the Prosperous Year of Rabbit”, this year’s celebrations feature rabbit lantern lightings and decorations along 4 major streets in the Chinatown district.
Apart from getting to take photos with the sculptures, visitors will be able to participate in a host of festive activities from shopping for CNY merchandise, lantern-making workshops, to watching cultural performances during this period.
List of Activities
- 1 – 21 Jan 2023 (6:00pm – 10:00pm): Chinatown CNY bazaar selling CNY decorations, CNY goodies, CNY snacks, and a local food fair. While the official operating time begins from 6pm, the bazaar actually starts much earlier at around 12pm.
- 3 Jan 2023 (7:00pm): Street light-up ceremony at Kreta Ayer Square (beside Buddha Tooth Relic Temple) [Map]
- 3 Jan – 19 Feb 2023 (7:00pm – 12:00am): Rabbit light installations along 4 main roads will be switched on every evening.
