Should you buy an iPhone 17 or iPhone 16 in Singapore?

As a newer series of iPhone is released, the prices of the older series will usually drop. Whether or not to buy a brand new iPhone 17 or save some money by buying iPhone 16 depends on a few factors below:

1. Disposing old phone

If you are currently using an iPhone 12 or older phone, you are probably someone prudent or environment-conscious, wasting anything will be your last option. However, as the performance of your phone deteriorate, you have no choice but to change to a new phone.

If so, go for iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max! These two editions are built on Apple’s A19 Pro Bionic chip which means that your phone will be more efficient, with longer battery life and significantly better camera.

2. Special features

If you are switching just for Apple Intelligence, Apple Intelligence is available from iPhone 15 Pro onwards.

3. Discounts and promotions

If you have any special discounts or promotions for any of the version, do not hesitate, go ahead and utilise them.

4. Budget constraint

It is usually recommended to buy a lower version of new iPhone if you have budget constraint.

You can consider either the iPhone 16 or iPhone 15, but avoid earlier models. The iPhone 15 is the first to feature a USB-C charging port.
