When is Qing Ming 2025 in Singapore?

Qing Ming 2025 (清明节2025) falls on the 4 April 2025 (Friday).

This annual observance is celebrated by the Han Chinese on the 15th day following the Spring Equinox (春分). During the festival, descendants gather with their extended families to visit and clean the tombs of their ancestors, a practice known as “tomb sweeping”.

In Singapore and many parts of Southeast Asia, Qing Ming is observed from around 10 days before and after the official date.

What are the operating hours of Columbariums and Cemeteries during Qing Ming 2025?

In anticipation of crowds visiting the public Columbariums in Singapore where the ashes of the majority of deceased are housed during this period, the National Environment Agency (NEA) announced that Choa Chu Kang Columbarium, Mandai Columbarium, and Yishun Columbarium will operate 24 hours daily from 22 March 2025 (Saturday) to 20 April 2025 (Sunday).

Choa Chu Kang Cemetery will operate 24 hours daily as usual.

The Garden of Peace, where ashes are scattered in a tranquil garden setting, is usually open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm, except on days when maintenance work is being carried out. However, the facility will be closed to visitors on the following dates: 22, 23, 29, 30 & 31 March, as well as 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 18, 19 & 20 April 2025. Access to the facility for ash scattering on these dates is by prior approved booking only.

Do I need to make a booking for Qing Ming 2025?

Bookings for Qing Ming 2025 are only required for those driving and parking at Choa Chu Kang Columbarium or Mandai Columbarium, and are necessary on selected dates between 22 March 2025 (Saturday) and 20 April 2025 (Sunday).

The following are the dates that requires booking for drivers:

  • Choa Chu Kang Columbarium
    • Visiting between 6:00am and 4:00pm
    • March 2025: 22, 23, 29, 30, 31
    • April 2025: 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20
  • Mandai Columbarium
    • Visiting between 6:00am and 6:00pm
    • Daily from 22 March 2025 to 20 April 2025

Visitors using public transport, including public buses, shuttle buses, taxis, and public hire vehicles (PHVs), do not need to make an appointment.

Furthermore, drivers who are only picking up or dropping off passengers at the designated points at Mandai Columbarium and Choa Chu Kang Columbarium are not required to book an appointment. Please refer to the pick-up and drop-off points below:
