River Hongbao 2026 (春到河畔2026四十周年庆) marks the 40th anniversary of Singapore’s iconic annual Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrations. Making a grand return for 10 days from 15 – 24 February 2026, the festival will once again light up Gardens by the Bay (GBTB) as it ushers in the Year of the Horse.
Continuing its long-standing traditions, both locals and international visitors can gather at the iconic gardens in the Marina Bay precinct to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere. Event highlights include four nights of fireworks, a countdown celebration on CNY Eve, photo opportunities with the majestic God of Fortune statue, as well as dazzling horse-themed and Singapore multicultural-themed lanterns, lights, and intricate festive decorations.
Beyond the breathtaking lantern displays, River Hongbao 2026 promises a lively line-up of nightly cultural and contemporary performances, a bustling food fair, and exciting carnival games and rides. Visitors can also explore a special 40th anniversary exhibition, showcasing the evolution of River Hongbao since its beginnings along the Singapore River in 1987. Together, these attractions create a rich blend of heritage, entertainment and family-friendly fun for visitors of all ages.
For Singaporeans and residents of Singapore, mark your calendars and make River Hongbao a must-visit highlight of your Chinese New Year celebrations. Drop by with family and friends after reunion dinners or festive house visits to soak in the vibrant sights and joyous atmosphere. For tourists, don’t miss this opportunity to experience firsthand the colour, culture, and excitement of Chinese New Year in Singapore, celebrated in truly spectacular style.
In addition to the festivities at Gardens by the Bay, River Hongbao will make special neighbourhood appearances featuring its God of Fortune mascots, who will be distributing angbao (hongbao) packets and J-Kids amusement ride vouchers redeemable at the event.
